Both sides were fairly evenly matched though Saltash maintained the upper hand for most of the game, tries by Chris Henderson (1st for the club) and Stuart Quarterman (Rees conversion) kept Argaum in the running. A further try by Tommy Cooper late on which was converted by Andy Rees put Argaum in front for the first time. Whether a case of poor mathematics or poor judgement is unknown but the last kick of the match was a penalty to Saltash in front of the posts on the Argaum 22 metre line - the option to kick to touch had at least the Argaum contingent open mouthed in disbelief - a fine but very close victory! By friday night before this game Argaum had had 7 front row players and 3 scrum half's pull out, and so with a bit of juggling and a guest appearance from OPOs Kevin Bettison at tight-head prop Argaum managed to field what still looked like a fairly strong side.
