Plymouth Argaum Tigers 36 OPMs III 15
(9th September 2000, k.o. 15:00
Bickleigh Down Road)

Playing down the slope first half the tigers started well but soon let their organisation and discipline slip, and for a good 20 minutes things were looking pretty ragged.

A converted try by the OPMs may have provided some of the incentive for Argaum to pick their game up and Carl Egonu at No. 8 began the reply with a try which was converted by Andy Rees. OPM's added a further 8 points (try and penalty) and close to the end of the first half Ashley Dunne powered over for Argaum's second try which Rees failed to convert from in front of the posts.
Whether the half-time oranges were spiked or whether a couple of replacements, on what was a hot and muggy afternoon, made the difference is not known but the second half was a different affair. Excellent running by new-boy John Siddorn at 2nd row resulted in winger Kevin Quigley scoring a try within 2 minures of the re-start, with further trys added by Stuart Quarterman making his debut appearance, Allistair Baillie and Whiskey "I'm not playing this season" Walker.(AR)
