Tavistock missed two early opportunities as they failed to ground the ball cleanly having crossed the line. On the second occasion Jack Bond just failed to score with a good chip and chase; however, from the drop-out restart the ball was collected well by Joe Hair and quickly moved back to Bond on the wing who made no mistake to open the scoring.
Tavistock seemed to have wasted another good attacking position with a knock on ten metres from the Argaum line. However, the clearance kick from the Argaum scrum was charged down by Dan Oner who off-loaded the ball to Tom Rickard arriving in support, who powered over the line to score Tavistock’s second.
Tavistock started the second half with a ten point lead but could not afford to drop their concentration.
Possession was evenly balanced but Argaum were unable to gain useful territory as excellent tackling and defensive work snuffed out any danger from the Argaum attack.
Midway through the half, a pinpoint kick to the corner by Josh Leeson at centre gave Argaum a line-out five metres from their line. The line-out was fumbled by Argaum and ever alert Rollo Whitehouse was able to poach the ball from the Argaum half back and cross the line for Tavistock’s third try.
The home side added a final try as scrum-half Niall Murphy spotted a gap from the back of a five metre scrum and crossed the line under the posts. Leeson added two more points with the conversion.
