Launceston 22 Tigers U14 17
A pulsating game to start with the lead changing hands on several occasions. It was Launceston who started the stronger and scored two unconverted tries in the first period but Argaum showed glimpses that they could make a comeback in the second half. Wonderful individual runs by first Solomon Cox and then George Glover produced tries which Hayden Baugh expertly converted. Launceston came back through their powerful centre to take the lead again but shortly afterwards Argaum pressure gained a penalty in front of the posts which Baugh again slotted. It seemed that Argaum would hang on for a win when they withstood a large amount of Launceston pressure at the other end. But after a series of 5 metre scrums the big Launceston centre just managed to evade the Argaum defence for his hat-trick and the winning score from the last play of the game.
Lankelly-Fowey 10 Tigers U14 5
Another game of two halves as Lankelly took advantage of an Argaum side recovering from the dramatic finale of the first match. Two tries gave them a 10 point interval lead. Again Argaum came back in the second half and played some of their best rugby despite the ever-worsening conditions. All of their efforts were justly rewarded when Solomon Cox who had been outstanding both in attack and defence, stormed over from 35 yards out for a consolation try.
A couple of Argaum players guested for Launceston in the final game and helped the All Blacks to a 15-nil win over Lankelly with Tigers' George Glover grabbing one of the tries.
