DHSOB Wizards 10 - 34 Plymouth Argaum

Plymouth Argaum continued the club re-build with a hard fought won over a strengthened Wizards side. The Wizards were after revenge from their last encounter were Argaum scored over 50 points and they fielded a much stronger team.

The pack demonstrated some powerful forward play and Argaum were struggling to match them at the scrum.  Argaum however started strongly with 2 early tries from Darren Revel and Jim Lawrence and another soon followed from New Zealander Mike Schaab. The Wizards hit back with a try which was converted. The Wizards now completely dominated the scrum however were having less success at the breakdown. Argaum went in to half time 15 – 5 ahead.

After the break another three tries form Argaum though Aaron Harte, Jim Lawrence and Mark Miller essentially put the match beyond the Wizards reach, who, to their credit carried on battling. New Argaum team Captain Jamie Venner praised the Wizards by saying they never gave up. Plymouth Argaum will continue to re-build and have a 100% record since the massive loss in manpower forced them to withdraw from the Devon One promotion play off’s. Head Coach Howell Phillips praised his side’s gritty performance and will continue to mould the new look Plymouth Argaum into a decent rugby team.
