Plymouth Argaum hosted touring side Bristol Saracens who play in the Gloucester Premier league which is 2 levels above Argaum in a repeat fixture from the Argaum tour to Bristol.

This time Saracens were after revenge for the 14 – 5 defeat inflicted on them by Argaum when the sides met 2 weeks ago. The game started with both sides battling to gain control of play and it was 25 mins before Saracens scored, which was followed by 3 quick tries and the half time score was 26 – 0 to Sarries. A cricket score now seemed on the cards. However under the astute leadership of 1st team Captain Jamie Venner, Argaum fought back hard and started to dominate the forward play. Argaum’s scrum half Dan Case stole a try from poor sarries ball control at the scrum. Another try followed from Argaum’s Fijian No 8. Plymouth Argaum were now dominating the scrums and line outs and it looked for a while that another upset may be on the cards.

However Saracens captain Andy Salabank rallied his team for the final phase of the game with and some good play in the back line and this brought sarries another try.  The match was followed by a good rugby tour style sing a long in the bar and a good time was had by all. Argaum would like to thank Bristol Saracens for an enjoyable couple of games and they hope to meet each other again in the future. The next Argaum match is a Help for Heroes fund raiser were the Chairman’s XV takes on the Presidents XV which is to be played next Saturday at Bickliegh down. All our welcome to attend.
