The scoring was shared out among a number of players with inside-centre Jake Turfrey claiming a hat-trick. The performance prompted Bill Ryan, Saltash stalwart and Argaum captain in the mid 1960s, to pronounce it the best he had seen by an Argaum side in the 40 years he has been at Saltash. Coach Dave Sansom was also pleased; 'We squandered great field position last week at Tamar Saracens but this week we clicked and came away with points every time we entered the opposition 22'. The result was a great boost for the club, who are starting to see some interest from new players as a result of the recent recruitment campaign but the squad knows they have to re-produce this form in the league. The colts were also in action across the road at Chapel Field, producing a spirited performance along with Saltash in a 27-nil defeat against a very feisty Camborne side.
Argaum Triumph Across The TamarWritten by Richard Belli
Saltash II 0 Plymouth Argaum 71
Plymouth Argaum warmed up for next week's crucial league encounter with Buckfastleigh with this comprehensive victory over the Saltash second string. This was probably the best scoreline acheived by a senior Argaum side since an 80-odd point win against a depleted YMCA side in the late 1990s.
