Argaum Tigers 14 Devonport Services 63
( December 9th 2000, k.o. 14:30
Bickleigh Down)

It's hard to know what to say about a scoreline like this without first making at least a few excuses, however apart from saying that Argaum fielded an understrength team due to unavailability of regular players the less said the better.

Playing down the slope in the first half, things weren't looking too bad; converted tries from Taff Grifffiths at No. 8 and outside centre Wayne Lowndes in his first game of the season assisted by Kier Wilkinson playing out of position as blind-side flanker saw the score at the turn round a respectable 14 - 25. But, the cracks were certainly beginning to show, with a number of players beginning to struggle; Mick Organ (Prop - turned ankle), Taff Parry (2nd Row - back problem) and Martin Stevens (wing - hernia) all carried on for longer than they should have, but with 2 out of the 3 leaving the pitch with 20 minutes remaining, Services monopolised on the gaps that appeared and ran riot.(AR)
