This season we celebrate 125 years since we we were formed and in that time we have provided rugby for countless players. We want you to be part of that this season and we are running the following teams:
Training on Tuesday & Thursday evenings and playing on Saturdays we are running two sides who play in Plymouth, Devon & National Competitions. We have a young squad and are looking for players of all ages and abilities to join our squad at this exciting time. We are a good social side with an annual tour at Easter. Contact Gary Michael to found out how to get involved.
Training on Wednesday evenings and playing on Saturday afternoons, we have a young squad playing in the Devon Merit Table. We are looking for players between 16 and 18 (school year 12 and 13 equivalent) to join this squad. We also have an annual tour around Easter. Please contact Neil Bond to find out more.
Training on Wednesday evenings and playing on Sunday mornings, this side formed at the beginning of last season but have produced some very good results in their short time together. We play mainly friendlies but also enter the Devon Cup and Festivals. A tour at Easter is also planned. Contact Mark Albiston to find out more.

I joined Plymouth Argaum just after their Centenary Year in 1988. (No, I am not founding member, Guys!!) I had played in the South East at Basildon and Chingford and for Essex Vets before coming to the ‘hot-bed of rugby’ in the South-West! I met the teams for an away match at Chard and was impressed by the welcome I got. We ran two regular sides in those days with an occasional 3rd XV. Much has changed since then, but we are still the welcoming, friendly, sociable club that we have always been.
Recent changes include a vibrant, growing Junior Section, refurbishment of the clubhouse, new showers, and a determination to improve on last year’s position. The Clubhouse is now open seven days a week to members with entertainment on Saturday evenings, Darts and Pool Teams and food is available most evenings.
There is still much to do with plans to upgrade training facilities, including lights and a Gym! We have a development plan and are raising the necessary finance with an enthusiastic committee. The players are keen to improve and train Tuesdays from 7.00 pm. The older juniors train at this time too and on Thursday evenings.
If you want to find out more, come and meet us and enjoy a friendly welcome as I did all those years ago!
Chris Sillitoe, Chairman Plymouth Argaum RFC
We are a friendly, family-based club located at Bickleigh Down, Roborough just north of Plymouth. We currently run a 1st XV and occasionally 2nd XV senior mens teams whilst we also have a junior section which has been running since 2003. Last season the Tiger Cubs were formed providing rugby-related activity for even younger ages. We are probably the oldest club in Plymouth having being originally formed in 1887 and we are proud to celebrate our 125th Anniversary in 2011-12. In May 2008 the running of the clubhouse was taken over by Plymouth Argaum Sports & Social Club, it was completely refurbished and is now open every day of the week. This website is regularly updated with match reports and other club news, if you have any feedback or would like to contribute then please email the webmaster or use the forum.
