Tiger CubsArgaum Ladies and their HelpersArgaum Ladies were busy last weekend when they opened up the pitch-side refreshment facility at Bickleigh Down. To celebrate the occasion the ladies together with an entourage of children had their faces painted with the club's famous Tiger Mascot. The much needed facility has been made available by the powering up of the container together with a huge amount of work, put in by the ladies, to clear and tidy the general area. Many thanks to all those involved and let's hope it continues to be a great success.

Big Lottery Funding

Written by

Plymouth Argaum are today proud to announce that the club has received a grant of £8500 from the Big Lottery Fund . The funding is to support renewal and upgrading of the club facilities, focussing in particular on the trackway leading up to the pitches and pitchside lighting. Work will be undertaken to tidy up the area next to the pitchside equipment enclosure and provide a lean-to for supporters to have shelter in inclement weather. Rewiring of the lighting and powering up of the enclosure will enable pitch-side refreshments to be served. The work will not only be of benefit to the rugby club but to all other users of the facilities such as dog agility, football and horse-riding. The enhanced facilities will enable more community events to be held and also allow Argaum to host training sessions for DIstrict Representative squads. The grant was obtained for the club by Jason Chinn who is also acting as Project Manager for the work undertaken. Further details will be released in the press shortly and progress of the work shown on this site.

A sucessfull first half of the season has seen Argaum exceed expectations and qualify for the Devon 1 league playoffs!  Salcombe ended up runaway leaders with Tamar Saracens, pre-season favourites coming a strong second.  Argaum were early season contenders, but a strong finish to the first half of the league saw Plymouth Barbarians clinch 3rd, helped by in influx of signings from Devonport Services.  The final spot was snatched by DHSOB, who seemingly if you believed the comments of their press rep throughout the season, had mountains to overcome, constantly.  Unfortunately, Old Technicians never made the cut, along with Dartmouth, St Columba and Plym Vic. league_table.jpg

Safe Trip Boys!

Written by

42 Commando BadgeYou may be aware that three Plymouth Argaum players will shortly be off to Afghanistan. They are 1st XV Skipper Josh Theophanides, Jamie White and Johnathon Taaffe, 3 of the Royal Marines who have done so much to turn around the club's fortunes this season. There will be a Farewell Get Together up at the club this coming Saturday starting at 5pm (England v Wales match screened in the clubhouse).

I'm sure you would join me in thanking all 3 players for their effort this season and wish them a safe journey.

Please note that there is no senior match on Saturday (why not come up and support the colts against Devonport services at 2:30) but there is a vets game on Sunday against DHSOB , please let Symo know of your availability.
