This match was closer than the score suggests and Tigers will be dissapointed that they didn't make more of playing down the slope in the first half.

Match Action

This was Argaum's first league win for almost 2 years and was thoroughly deserved in front of a passionate Bickleigh Down Crowd. The Chiefs fought back after being 15 points down at one stage to secure the win in the last 5 minutes.

Missing several regulars Plymouth Argaum Under14s were only able to take a bare 15 to a rain-soaked Lankelly-Fowey but they gave a good account of themselves in this 3 way match.

Tigers U16 13 Tiverton 7

TIVERTON returned empty-handed from their long trek to Plymouth.

A patched-up Tivvy took a while to settle, but in the end they were unlucky not to take something from the game.

Argaum were a well-drilled outfit but Tiverton did manage to break their defensive line on more than one occasion, crossing three times, only for the tries to be disallowed.

Will Norton scored Tivvy's only legitimate try, with Ben Blake converting.

Plym Argaum...3 DHSOB...31

AFTER seeing off early Argaum pressure, the Old Boys ran out winners by 28 points.

Argaum's Jim Twist, on the back of that pressure, eventually bisected the sticks to put his side ahead on the third penalty attempt.

The Old Boys took the lead with a Jamie Burton try, which fly-half Alex Buckley converted. Argaum's defence held out on the heavy pitch to stop Devonport's ambitions, but centre Del Jenkins got on the end of a good move to score a second try and Buckley's conversion made it 14-3 at the turnaround.

The Old Boys then took charge using the Roborough slope to their advantage and Jenkins headed home for his second touchdown and Buckley added the extras.

Second-row Paul Walters did the work for Neil Harthill to dive in on the left wing before Devonport pushed a five-metre scrummage over the Argaum line and number eight Scott Williams got the touchdown.
