There may have been nothing to play for but pride at the end of a long season but make no mistake this was a proper game of rugby where the result was always in the balance. The visitors from Gloucester 2 undoubtedly had indulged on the Friday night and Saturday morning but they were a very competent outfit (probably good Devon 1 equivalent) which made this a competitive encounter throughout.

DHSOB 18 Plymouth Argaum 34

Due to no league fixture game this weekend Plymouth Argaum took themselves to DHSOB Stonehouse Creek to play in a club match against the local side. With a few players re shuffled for this fixture it was sure to be a good game to watch.

Local side Plymouth Argaum RFC will take on 29 Commando's rugby team for The John Stevens Trophy. In Febuary 2009, John Stevens lost his battle with cancer and sadly passed away. When diagnosed, he was playing for Plymouth Argaum. He is also a former member of 29 Commando RA.

A Day (And Night) To Remember

There would have been more than a few sore heads around this morning as Plymouth Argaum partied in style after the first event of their 125th Anniversary at Bickleigh Down yesterday. The matches themselves were hard and close fought with a Plymouth Combination side, comprising of players from OPMs, DHSOB, Old Techs and Tamar Saracens, overcoming the Chiefs by 12 point to 10.

Saltash II 0 Plymouth Argaum 71

Plymouth Argaum warmed up for next week's crucial league encounter with Buckfastleigh with this comprehensive victory over the Saltash second string. This was probably the best scoreline acheived by a senior Argaum side since an 80-odd point win against a depleted YMCA side in the late 1990s.
