Argaum will feel that this is one that got away today, but with two well-matched teams the result was always in the balance. After turning around scoreless at half time Newton Abbot's try was sandwiched by two Jake Turfrey penalties. A third long range effort went just wide on the stroke of full-time as the All Whites held on for victory.

This was a much improved performance by the Tigers which enabled them to restrict a talented Newton Abbot side to 3 first half tries whilst coming back after the interval for one of their own. Despite the wet conditions both sides attempted to move the ball as much as possible which made for a good spectacle.

Newton failed to exploit a slight deficiency in the Plymouth club's back division, and after coming off second best in the forward battle were defeated by one goal and two tries to nil. Argaum played the game best suited to the slippery conditions and good co-ordination in the loose scrummages led to a try directly before the interval by Rhodes. Baker added another and from T Daly's punt ahead Farren gathered and crossed over for Ball to convert.
